parking tip

Post by pilvikki »

good idea! you'll know where you parked, AND have the licence plates of cars that may have dinged yours.

Looks like how we parked when we went on the ocean cruise. Bumper to bumper, with no gaps between the parking lanes.

or like you park on the ferries... first time and really fresh standard gear driver in a car I wasn't that familiar with yet, I was so nervous I thought I was going to have kittens! but it went well, except when we were supposed to drive off and the car in front of us wasn't going anywhere... being packed like sardines the whole row of us had to sit pretty until they unravelled us more or less inch by inch from the rear.

turns out the guy either fell overboard - or had had a bit of help in exiting....

the ferry actually stopped and turned around midway to Helsinki to look for him. no luck though and the only reason they did that was when his cabin mate noticed dude wasn't back in the middle of the night. by then who knows how long he'd been gone...

I took the bus from Brampton to minden - once. it takes approx. 2 hrs 10 mins to drive, depending on who's driving.

the bus... not so much. in fact, it took me 6 hours and only because someone picked me up in town for the last lap.

bussing it from Brampton to Vermont/Quebec border would most likely take days...

in town they're great!

mostly.

I can't imagine how taking a photo'd help you to locate your vehicle amongst thousands - as in the pic. It'd have to be taken from an elevated position as well, in order to see the rows properly, but you COULD note a "landmark" of some sort and then probably find your car that way.

The worst one I can think of was at a festival one year. Thousands of cars parked right up to each other, and as everyone was wending their way back after the show ... the lights went out! OMG .... people were using anything they could find to light their way in the blackness - a few torches, lighters, still-burning sticks from campfires .... and then finally, after passing it twice, we located our vehicle, but were stuck for over an hour because we couldn't move!
