Re: DNA stuff

Just what we need GMO People, hi hi... What sounds like it is for the good or betterment of mankind, will get abused, altered, etc. and they will create certain strains of people for particular tasks. But I don't wanna be a seven foot tall basketball player. Too late, this is why you were modified b...

Re: DNA stuff

Even if they could, it probably wouldn't be allowed in the USA because to be allowed to do that, DNA would first have to be Patentable, which it is not, and it would have to be able to be Synthesized, which it cannot.
We can thank our drug companies for making cures for anything here impossible!

Re: murmuration

When I was growing up, there was a small poultry farm between our house and the little collection of stores with a mom n pop grocery store. The farm was dwindling down and had only a few chickens left, but a bunch of wild geese made it their home while some work was being done to the park and lake a...

Re: murmuration

I don't have time for this BUT. One of our drivers hit a bird on the highway. Since it was a commercial vehicle, he was required to fill out this multi-page accident report, with a separate section because the damage exceeded a certain fixed amount, which changed each year. Questions like, were thei...

Saw this back home once, but not since I moved south.
Although we see more geese and migrating hummingbirds than we did back home.

Re: Login Changes

Sounds like you are keeping well up on things! My cousin John's website started getting ads through a spambot. He thought he nipped it in the bud by adding 'Captcha.' His mailbox first got swamped with complaints about that horrible service. Then he found it was an open door to some hackers, who mad...

Re: Networks and Printers and the Price of Ink

I've never had a problem with any of my computers which use Nvidia. I install the Nvidia system, so see it when I reboot as a splash screen. I don't get this with Radeon and have to rebuild the kernel. My new motherboard uses Radeon 8370d, which I'm not using at the moment. I'm letting the default d...

Re: Networks and Printers and the Price of Ink

I'm crying in my beer today too Yogi... I broke one of the installs on my newest computer. My fault technically. I added a proprietary video driver, since none was in the kernel. Without thinking this morning, I just hit YES install updates without checking them. One was a new kernel, so I ended up ...

Re: "all animals go to heaven"

Of course animals go to heaven!

They cannot sin, nor can plants, or insects for that matter.
So they do not need redemption.

Besides, JC comes back riding a white horse. So yes, animals are mentioned in the NT.

Re: mrs, miss, ms etc

As a distant example: The bank robber who claims to be a Christian bank robber. Or the little old Jewish Fortune Teller peering into her crystal ball, while munching on a ham and cheese sandwich. Or the Cantor in the synagogue, owns the building where his wife is the Madam of the local brothel. They...

Re: mrs, miss, ms etc

Let's just say the article described the difference between people based on what side of the fence they were on. Plus they added a new fence so there are three divisions instead of just two sides.
The middle section being all frauds from both sides of the original fence.

Re: mrs, miss, ms etc

I hope to heck I didn't open a huge can of worms here. Thought I would check into the origin of Mrm. and Msm. being used as a form of address. All caps, MRM and MSM have meanings all their own. MRM is of course Men's Rights Movement, and MSM is or was sexual activity between men. While looking up MR...

Re: Short story up on Microcerpt.

I would probably make more money with my books if I ventured up to PG13 from G, hi hi... But then I would attract a whole different class of readers. Heck, I get myself into trouble if I use a slightly off-color joke, even though many don't get it. Something like "She wouldn't for a Russian, but she...

Re: mrs, miss, ms etc

FWIW: This is how envelopes to a fund raiser for a park trail were addressed to the recipients.

Mrm. & Mrm. Stanfield, and the other was Msm. & Msm. Delrose/Hart.

Those were the only two I saw addressed in this fashion.

Re: Short story up on Microcerpt.

Writers are a weird bunch who never seem to agree on much of anything. So perhaps it's best they didn't flock here to argue over who is right. I have so little time myself, I only hit a few of the titled forums each visit. And as you said, the forums dedicated to writers have all kinds of things for...

Re: mrs, miss, ms etc

Since I did one heck of a lot of genealogy work, I learned early on Mrs. does NOT mean a woman is married or was married. It only meant she was probably older than the other women in a group. Or they were simply always referred to as Mrs. rather than Miss. And Miss is one you have to be careful with...

Re: 7500 yr old writing

Guilty! When we published our towns history book, I included a few unusual items, simply for the nostalgia of how they wrote and what they purchased.
