Re: Yet Another RIP - Jack Bruce

Cream was among my favorite bands back in the day. They are a rather dated group, but many of their songs are iconic in the rock music genre.

Yet Another RIP - Jack Bruce

And celebrity deaths continue to come, seemingly accelerating as time goes on: Jack Bruce, who became famous in the 1960s as the bassist and lead vocalist for the hugely successful rock group Cream, and whose adventurous approach to his instrument influenced two generations of rock bassists, died o...

Re: Default Board Style

Left vs. right hand controls aren't really an issue for me. It's just needing to shift everything to the right to access controls or read every time I change to another page. I'd really rather have everything right there without the need to shift it.

Re: Default Board Style

Well, already changed it back (Prosilver, not Subsilver). I figured out why I liked it so much; most of the other styles are oriented to the right, where the controls and buttons on each page are on the right. Since I run my browser a little bigger than the full page size, that means that every tim...

Re: Default Board Style

Not too bad. It's just a bit bold for my taste, but I think I'll leave it here for a while and make the decision whether to change it back or not a little later.

Re: Default Board Style

I guess I should give it a try and see what it looks like. I am, however, well satisfied with subsilver. I suppose it's all what one gets used to, though.

Re: New computers are HORRIBLE...

Now that you mentioned it, the old "Hot Water 101" was one of their radios I built, back in the day. Never built a "tenner"; I don't remember ever hearing of them. Just the sixer and the twoer. They were fun little radios. With all the miniaturization, stability requirements, an...

Re: New computers are HORRIBLE...

I miss the old Heathkits. I built several of them, including a Sixer and Twoer. I also built a couple of HF radios, though I can't remember their model numbers.

Re: New computers are HORRIBLE...

Hi! I know it's been a while since I posted in this forum, but I read something I thought I might comment on: Windows XP did install, but has no audio or ethernet drivers, working in generic vga mode. So maybe it's just a matter of getting the drivers. Back when I first started with Linux, I was fo...

Re: Squeamish

Just popping in for one of my visits, and I saw this thread. Well, it's great that you now have the other eye taken care of, and that they are both at their prime. Three years later...how time flies (though I bet it dragged, for you!). Congratulations, and I'm awaiting the bragging to start on your...

Re: Weather report..

G'Morning, all! I've enjoyed Weather Report for many years now, and their bassist contribution to the music industry, Jaco Pastorius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2dtEXzbKyU His death in 1987 due to drugs and alcohol (peripherally, actually) was a terrible loss to the Progression Jazz industry.

Re: kids 2!

And therein, I think, lies the answer. I've heard (and witnessed) many "terrible twos" actions and reactions in children of that age, and I've heard and witnessed as many others in which there was a minimal amount of misbehaviour. I believe that most of the behaviours (or lack thereof) ar...
