Recommended Gaming Web Sites

Postby forumadmin » 20 Dec 2009, 16:51

This thread is intended for use as a list of recommended web sites which provide entertainment in the form of on line games. The sites may be totally free, pay for use, or subscription based, but each recommendation must be the result of personal use by the person offering the link.

RECOMMENDATIONS FORMAT
  1. The subject line of each reply in this thread should be modified to include the name of the site or the specific game so that searches of our database for a specific item may be easily accomplished.
  2. The URL (web address) for the game site should be posted first and at the top of each reply.
  3. Following the URL should be a description of the site or specific game, and what you like or don't like about it. If your description goes beyond ten lines of text, you probably are saying too much.
  4. Given that these recommendations are posted in a single thread, superfluous commentary is not allowed. Any follow up replies must be specific critical reviews, not trivial comments or emoticons.
    For Example
"Good link" is not a critical review.
 is not a critical review.
"I enjoyed playing <name of the game> because ... " is the proper beginning of a review for a recommendation.
  5. Also, prepend the word "Review" to any Subject line that is not an original recommendation, again to make searches for information easier.
      Recommendation = Subject: Scrabble
Review = Subject: Review - Scrabble
  6. Posts that do not comply with the above format will be deleted.

I'll do the honors of recommending the first game so that the format may be more clearly understood.

Crickler

This is a variation of a crossword puzzle in a line by line format instead of the classic square. You are scored on the number of errors made while solving, and the time it takes to complete the puzzle. Click on the [Solve] square in order to start solving the puzzle.

Review - Crickler

Postby Yogi » 20 Dec 2009, 16:58

I like the fact that repeating letters are added to unsolved parts of the puzzle automatically. My favorite part is that the clues in at least one of the puzzles are based on current events. It's an educational puzzle as well as entertaining.

this is a generic gaming site with all the popular games. I particularly like bejewelled blitz. You also get to compete against others

this is a brilliant game, a bit like a brain trainer, very simple, you have to search for items hidden in a picture, sounds easy but surprisingly difficult and addictive, I hate it but I love it kinda thing ;)

This is so frustrating. I get that you score more points for longer words, but I just can't find them. There are always people online who manage to score higher than me though. How do they do it?

Giggle Poetry

Postby forumadmin » 24 Jan 2012, 13:02

I found an interesting resource for those of us who participate in the group limerick thread. It's basically written for children which made it easier for me (with a young heart) to understand. We seem to be getting better at this game, but I offer the resources as a source of inspiration for those times we are overcome by writers block.

Very strange game based on Rubic's Cube, I think. Not sure. But it is a bit addictive in any case.
