Locked The Keys Inside My Car: Now What?

Postby Yogi » 15 Oct 2011, 09:48

Here is how to break into your own car and avoid the expense of paying somebody else to do it on those unfortunate occasions when you lock the keys inside.

Needless to say this trick can be used to break into somebody else's car too, but that is illegal and very not nice. Do not do that.

So that explains why all my friends are carrying a wood wedge and long piece of metal around....

:lmao4: @ berm

well... that's very handy IF you do that at home... where you'll most likely have a spare set anyway.

but what about at the shopping mall or movies?

if you remember to carry around a wedge of wood and a long bar on you, you'll remember your keys, too...

we were in niagara falls when this family locked themselves out of a minivan. they used my umbrella to get back in as the window was slightly open.

Well, even if you are at the mall with a wedge of wood and a long metal rod, I'm guessing that you might attract some attention from the security folks if they saw what you were doing on their CCTV cameras. The good news is, that the police will break in for free if you sign a waiver absolving them from having to pay for any damages in the process.

A more simple idea's to carry a spare key in a magnetic box which you place underneath your car. They're only small and can save you a lot of trouble.

"Now where did I put that magnetic box...Oh yeah, it's under the hood in the engine compartment. Now all I have to do is get into the car and release the hood..."
