For Tomsk - Cranberry sauce recipe

Postby Ice.Maiden » 04 Jan 2015, 18:05

I use this quick and easy recipe from the BBC food website.

Ingredients:

100g light muscovado sugar
100ml orange juice, fresh or from a carton
250g pack fresh or frozen cranberries

Method:

Tip the sugar and orange juice into a pan, then bring to the boil. Stir in the cranberries, then simmer until tender but still holding their shape – this'll take about 5 mins if using frozen cranberries or 8-10 mins if using fresh. The sauce will thicken as it cools. Will keep in the fridge for 1 week. On the day, bring to room temperature before serving.

Always, but you need to keep at it, and to give yourself plenty of time.

Supposedly, yes. It's supposed to include relief from urinary tract infection, respiratory disorders, kidney stones, cancer, and heart disease, but as usual, some doctors're now saying that there's no proof. : (

Many people swear by the properties in cranberries. The phenols in the fruit're full of free radicals which help to combat cancer, for instance, but you know how opinions change with the wind. Personally, I think there's something to it. Any natural food's going to have an advantage over the manufactured muck.

By the way, if anyone wants a lovely recipe for chestnut stuffing, I made some at Christmas, and it was fabulous. : )

Give me a bit of time to dig it out again, and I'll pass it on. It was really tasty.
