Not much! I haven't got time to read all the stuff in that link, but it's a lovely old place isn't it? Do you live far from it?

20 km's down the road. the city inside the walls is full of shops, restaurants and - tourists. it's a real fun place if you pick a time you don't get trampled by the mobs. and the parking! cost something 50 c an hour! like wow!

Good grief - that's cheap. It's between £1 - 3 over here. We're supposed to be in the EU. How comes things are cheaper over there? : (

Not too far away from the castle then. Bet it's beautiful if you get chance to look around when there aren't many crowds. The whole town was fortified wasn't it?

double walled and with 38 towers, if i remember right. once you get going, you have quite the trot up and and down staircases.

Think I'd pass at the moment. : (

You'd think these places'd have lifts - or staggered ramps, for the disabled and so on, so that they could at least go up to the top and have a look.

At one historic place over here - I forget which it is now - but they've built a slide for people to get down again quickly. Not much good for those in wheelchairs though ....... LOOOL.

nope, nothing of the sort. the walk along the ramparts is real work-out and no, they've nothing for wheelchair access. the place is so disjointed that it wouldn't work at all. as for a lift to get up top to take a look... naw, i don't think it'd be worth it, for one you'd not be able to get to the blasted castle, which is on the far side from the entrance to the walled city. the road is cobblestone and pretty steep uphill. no need for the shute!

when you're up top, you pretty well just see roofs and more roofs.

Oh well. Do you have to pay to go into this castle?

Ah! I've found where this slide is again. It was only a temporary one - but a good idea!!

brilliant idea! but goodness sake, paint it so it doesn't glare against the aristocratic old building!

it does cost to go into the castle, which to me is a rip off. compared to, say, the tower, they'd really not put much effort into it since viollet-le-duc. (purple duck? :lmao4: ) by the looks of it.

Just looked him up. He's famous for his interpretive "restorations", whatever that means. LOL, yes, violet (purple) duck!
