My part of the world

Postby imhotep the 2nd » 16 Mar 2013, 18:41

Hello peeps.

Remember I said that I'd show you my part of the world.
Well, here it is in all it's splendor......and excuse the photo which is a bit wonky!
Ahem, anyway this was taken during December of the winter of 2010, and it's the back view from our home.
If your wondering about the specks in the sky, I think my camera lens must have a few specks of dirt within the lens.
I don't know how to remove the tiny specks of dirt behind the lens....
:(

Hope you like the photo btw!

Well done imhotep! I don't know how to post photos, but I haven't got a camera anyway!

Any more nice snowy scenes?

Sorry to say that I don't have many photos of my part of the world, but the ones that I do have are pretty good.

The camera I have is a fairly old one called....Canon Sure Shot del Sol with a Solar Charging system. meaning it has a solar panel on the front which if left on a windowsill during a sunny day, (it recharges even on a cloudy day strangely enough) it will recharge it's own battery. Clever eh!

I just wish I could get rid of those couple of odd specks behind the lens! Meh! :(

Thanks Icey!!

Well I first tried to attach them on this site using my Picture file from my PC, but that was unsuccessful, so I just went to my Facebook profile and got the photo from there among the others.
Will post another photo tomorrow as I've just signed off Facebook

Specs on the inside of your camera lens can be removed if you are willing to take your camera apart to remove them. It's usually way too complicated for the average person to do and may require specialized tools. When that happened to my Nikon, I took it to the camera shop, left them a wheel borrow full of currency, and VOILA! No more specs on my pictures.

I don't think I will bother going on the Limerick section for a while, unless I can think of a really funny line that is.
I wouldn't like to mess it up again that's for sure!

Thank you Yogi.

I like that pic imhotep. Keep them coming.

There's nothing to worry about with the limericks so long as you don't put too many words/syllables to a line, which sends it out of flow, sort of thing. That's the fun of doing them, to see if you can follow on from whatever anyone else puts down, but following the pattern. You can't always rhyme words exactly. Yogi manages to find some difficult ones! : )

Hmm, I do have two snowy pics of our home, but as I'm rather a private person I'd like to keep these photos to myself to be honest folks. Sorry about that!
Anyway, I do have a few more to show you.
This next photo is of our town river, and it's the very first time I've seen our Towy river like this!!
I was totally gobsmacked when i saw the ice covering most of it.

Normally, it's constantly flowing, but I'm pretty sure that it iced up when the current wasn't so strong.
Anyway, enough of me going on about it......see for yourself!!!!!

Taken on a footbridge on a cold December 2010....brrrrr!

The huge building on the side of the picture (with the large chimney's), is the Carmarthen County Hall building.
Quite a prominent feature of our town I can tell you!!

Alongside to the left of it, (you can't see it on the photo) is the remains of Carmarthen castle. It's quite an interesting place to look around mind. There's not much of the castle, but it's a great attraction for visitors! :)
We also have a Carmarthen museum which is located near a village called Abergwili.
Been there about three times now!! :)

Show you another picture tomorrow of the new part of our town.

Oh thank you! I suppose you're actually nearer to Carmarthen than to the Cambrian mountains or Powys? Is Carmarthen your nearest town?

That Llansteffan Castle's fabulous! I've never been, but it's on a prehistoric site isn't it? I'd love to take a look.

It looks as though a lot of money's been spent in building the modern parts of the city.

You're very good at rambling, Tomsk. :nana:

When I first started work, I became friendly with a Welsh girl called Maggie. Very friendly and pleasant, although her sense of humour was different to anyone else's in the office.
