I`ve finally got around to uploading the pic of my new decking.All I need to do now is assemble the patio stuff that arrived today.

I hope someone did all that for you Rusty? Very nice hun, but watch the decking stays free of algae, otherwise it gets very slippery. You can buy an acrylic coating for the boards, which makes them slip-resistant. x

My husband and I designed it and then we got a carpentry firm in to build it.

Thank goodness. I had these visions of you hammering it all together and hauling pieces of wood around! It looks very nice anyway.

No Icey,I`m putting a cover on that bit so I can still sit out there on rainy hot days.I want a clear cover probably of the plastic type and corrugated.I think with the cloth type,the rain would weigh it down between the slats.

The eleven piece patio set arrives tomorrow.The one I ordered should have had a tilting parasol but it didn`t so they sent another one out that should have tilted but that one didn`t either so I sent the lot back and went elsewhere.

You're right, and unless you apex the roof or make sure that the plastic sheeting's very taught, rain DOES weigh it down.

Last year, we bought one of those 27' plastic gazebos with windows in, for when the kids had a disco. It teamed down with rain of course, and even though the roof sloped in some parts, the weight of the water made the plastic sag. It didn't come in from there though, but where the upright poles from the ground met the slanting roof ones. The roof sheeting had a pelmet on it, supposedly to stop the rain from dripping in, but the force pushed this protective bit inside, so everything flooded for about 3' round the perimeter! Oh lol. The flat bits of roofing were even worse, and after three days of torrential rain, succumbed to nature - drenching a few us us who were sitting at a table directly below! : )

Then! ... Have you seen those small plastic greenhouses that sell for about £30? We got our youngest one, after he'd shown an interest in planting some seeds. At the first sign of a wind, it blew away, knocking all his carefully-filled trays and plantpots over. There was soil everywhere. : (
