Fire Ants

They are as irritating as their name implies, but have some incredible cohesive qualities that are being studied by science. These little buggers can be formed into a ball like a solid mass which is also fluid enough to flow through a funnel.

Absolutely. I read that fire ants stick together in a mass to form bridges when there's a gap between their food trail and their nests. These creatures're very interesting, despite no one wanting to be in the path of them. They can also group together and float across water. Nature provides some truly wonderful ways for everything to survive.
