Yes, sadly everyone's gone. Terrible ending to the year isn't it?

They were saying before the search that the pilot'd requested a different route and wanted to rise above his altitude because of bad weather conditions.

A report said that several planes a year get hit by lightning in the area, but mostly it's just mild enough to knock them around a bit. Storms over the Java Sea're quite common, but no one yet knows if the weather played a part in it this time.

Very, very sad.

Unfortunately, I think the other one went the same way, but because there's a much bigger area to search, it could be years before any wreckage's found, if at all.

This latest incident just gets more perplexing. OK., so they've now found 30 bodies - very sad - but they're saying that the flight wasn't scheduled to take the route it did, although traffic'd been given clearance on 4 days prior to the accident. It appears that the plane rose very sharply, which could've accounted for engines cutting out, hence a sudden dive. If they find the black box, things might become a little clearer. A sub's been down to 30m to try and examine what's on the sea bed.
