That's the main problem, Icey. When you give everyone a gun, then it gives criminals a gun. Remember you're not a criminal until you commit a crime, so someone who has never committed a crime can then obtain a gun and commit a crime. Because of this, people are paranoid that every criminal has a gun so therefore they must have a gun to protect themselves. The only problem with this is you don't need any skills to own a gun, you don't really need to have an IQ higher than 60. If you had to pass an IQ test and pass a proficiency test then gun ownership would drop dramatically.
But guns are part of the culture, it would be very hard to take that part of a nations culture away. It wasn't part of our culture and the main reason why we didn't kick up a big fuss when gun control was made law here over 30 years ago.
