World IPv6 Launch

Postby Yogi » 06 Jun 2012, 10:01

The Internet enters a new phase today, 6 June, 2012. The well known IP addresses that all our connected unique devices have have been using IPv4 protocol. Without boring you with details, IPv4 has the ability to provide about 4 billion unique addresses. Well, we pretty much have used them all up and today is the day IPv6 is being launched with it's possible 340,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 addresses. That should hold us over for a while.

Or at least until December 21. ;)

Think I'll go reserve my personal ipV6 addresses tomorrow. I wonder what the limit is? :P

Google wrote:That's a number big enough to give everyone on Earth their own list of billions of IP addresses.

So ... what would you do with billions of IP addresses?

Your quote is the very reason I said what I did. :P

What would I do with them all? Well, there's.....uh....

Well, I know what I could do with around 112,000 of them...host one of every single word of my novel to its own IP address. Write more novels, and..... :shifty:

That would be a start!
