Understanding Spam Bots

You got to be geeky in order to read the article in the link. Or, at least you need an interest in geeky topics.

GEEKY ARTICLE: http://blog.tweetsmarter.com/twitter-sp ... r-twitter/

We get inquiries from time to time about the "bots" which roam our forums, and I do my best to explain what that is all about. The big interest is in why they are here. For us it's the more or less benign bots used by search engines to index the topics we post. But, the bots that live in bigger social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and all the rest are not so benign. And, it's not all about advertising. Some bot networks have agendas beyond selling porn, fake Rolex watches, or cheap drugs. The article is a real eye opener regarding how spam is born and propagated. The implications are scary. Bots are smart and can take over human activity. If you are not up to speed on your geekiness, it will take some time and understanding to get through it. However, it's something everybody on the Internet should understand if at all possible.
