the auroras produce a LOT of sound. perhaps you just don't see them in the daytime?

and what if the mayan calender workers simply got laid off?

Better retire now then, imhotep. You can get your garden sorted out before December! : )

Don't worry - it's all a load of bunkum, the same as those who sold all their possessions before the Rapture was about to happen!! :lmao1:

LOL - the shops should be GIVING their stuff away by then. Only trouble is, there might not be enough time to enjoy it all. Mind you, the chocolates .... easy to get rid of!

Absolutely, Bill. I was saying somewhere on the site that, short of an asteroid or something smashing into us, even a nuclear war'd leave pockets of human beings still surviving, but a nice fat collision like that'd see us all off ... or maybe a whomping volcanic eruption. However, I think we'll all still be here in 2013 and beyond.

Ha ha ha - well your sentiments are felt by many people hun, but I hear a lot of talk and see no action. I think there are 2 things we can do - either get into politics ourselves and try and change things, or, on a more practical level, all bring our children up to have respect for the planet, and everything on it.

Not enough people care enough about what they eat, what they drink, about the flora and fauna - and what we're doing to the earth, seas and surrounding atmosphere. We're killing off endangered animals, losing the honey bees which are vital to our survival, and generally spraying, polluting and making a complete mess of what nature's given us.

I don't think the end of the world's nigh, but we're going to be left one day with destruction that we've caused ourselves.

Hi imhotep!! Hope you're having a good day!!! : )

Thank you very much for that Ice!

Like you said, if we're not careful with our beautiful world we are going to mess it up BIG time.
In fact, I'm all for saving our planet and I am also environmentally friendly too.
I always try and recycle as much as I can, and don't create too much waste.

Apparently people most knowledgeable on the subject of the Mayan Calendar see it as the end of this particular cycle - some don't even see it as that. For those of us who don't follow the cycle, this end ranks right up there with the celebration of Chinese New Year. It's an event we know about but do not put much significance into it.
