Me too, although I think they should've forfeited the semi- colon and put a full-stop there instead! : )

Depends on how the writer wants to emphasise something that's closely related to the previous sentence, but since we all read differently, semi-colons're getting more and more redundant these days. Shame. I like them.

Oops - there's an example of where a comma could've been used instead. :P
