i'd like to add these to the inane comments catalogue:

god bless the heroes (for bringing a kitty out of a tree f ex)

god will reward you! (?)

so innocent! (kid, kitten, cat, or anything abused. they instantly become "innocent")

yes! everybody is a hero, innocent, amazing.

so... what DO you call someone who actually IS?

In my humble opinion, a person or animal who puts their life at risk to save others's a hero. We all hear about "incredible" feats of bravery, but in general, words used to express your wonder and gratitude're just that - to describe an act of selfless kindness and fearlessness which benefits another.

Too often words're used out of context, but we can use all sorts of words to describe a "hero" - a star, a gem, a shining example, blah blah.
