It is. I've never known a young bird do that before.

Must have, although someone underneath commented that the fledgling took the guy's fingers to be the mother bird, and was looking for food. Awww .....

It reminds me of the time when I heard a pair of sparrows shouting loudly. Their youngster had fallen out of its nest on the roof and landed in a cage surrounding a clematis, where a cat was trying to reach the nestling. We took the young bird and put it on an upstairs neighbour's balcony. The parents were so happy they flew a loop the loop in the air. An animal loving friend told me that this was a display of thanks.
