It's been between 45F and 65F here for the most part. I'm not complaining now, but when we have to wear face masks so we won't suffocate breathing in mossies and other biting insects next summer, I might be singing a different tune! :(

Yes, some parts of Europe've had it really bad.

It was sleeting a bit this morning, but the sun's out now, and it's about 2 above.

It must be horrible to have clouds of mozzies. We get gnats hovering about, which can still give you a nip, but you can swipe the pesky things and splatter them in a nano-second!!

where my house was we got everything from horseflies to nosee'ms, mini blackflies that would dance right through screens.

here we only have mossies.

and unless the weather changes we'll have a whole lot of them.

Yes, well I suppose you get that living near water and the climate being what it usually is, but it can't be nice sitting out on a warm evening and then getting zapped.

We burn those outdoor citronella candles, but it doesn't make much difference, and I refuse to lather myself in insect repellant. Most of them contain DEET, which's especially dangerous for young children and can cause all sorts of things. Think I'd rather get bitten - unless I was in a place where there's malaria.

Those horseflies though .... evil things!

i have a message flashing on my weather logo: flash freeze possible in southern ontario.

and what do they mean by that?

ok, let's see:

"Most of southern Ontario will start to see light flurries and wet snow Friday afternoon," says Gina Ressler a meteorologist at The Weather Network. "Then as the cold front moves through, temperatures will drop significantly."
The combination of wet snow freezing on untreated surfaces and a couple centimetres of fresh snow may create flash freeze conditions in the region.

oh bugger, that doesn't sound good.

on the other hand, they're susually wrong...

They might not be, this time. We're supposed to get that moving through here, as well. That's what's giving us the "mid-20s/mid-teens" (since downgraded to around 10F) on Saturday and Sunday. There's a bit of a low over in SE Colorado that's supposed to give us the little snow we might get.

Looks like that Arctic blast is spreading over toward you as well as south toward us. Just make sure you don't need to go anywhere until it's over. You can sit in your house, look out the window, and....

got balmy 5 at the moment - 41 F.

i would be so much happier if it would stop yo-yo-yoing from one extreme to the next.
