Cat with only 5 nipples.

Postby MWB » 22 Aug 2009, 18:46

I mentioned this in my "members intro", & now I see we have a vet tech as a member.

Is it normal for a female cat to have only 5 nipples?

She was just spayed 3 weeks ago & I noticed as her fur had been shaved for the op.

They are positioned like this on her tummy............

I'm really intrigued by it.

Its not an uncommon thing for cats (and dogs ect..) to have an odd number of nipples or odd nipple placement. It does not harm them medically in any way and I have seen a 3 nippled cat raise 6 kittens successfully.

You have a special kitty there, enjoy her!

you can always get a marker and draw the missing one in so she'll look symmetrical.

Thanks, vettechie. Interesting.

I guess it's the same as some people have extra nipples?!

Vikki. I might either nail or weld that 6th nipple on - whatcha reckon?
