Is a dry-food-only diet for cats inadequate? I was recently told that wet food has nutrients that dry lacks, and vice versa. Is this true?

Pita will no longer eat wet cat food of any brand. She ignores chicken, fish, beef, or anything else-- cooked or uncooked.

She used to like ice cream, but now will only give it a quick, I'm-only-doing-this-'cause-you-put-it-here lick and then walks away.

She won't go near anything with catnip in it. You know... could it be possible that (as I've often suspected) she's not really a cat, but some kind of satanic creature, in disguise, sent here to bedevil me?

She eats NOTHING but dry food. Well... she did get into the butter that I stupidly left out. But she didn't eat more than a few laps.

She's quite healthy and has lots of energy. Her nose is cold, her eyes are clear, and her coat is shiny. She provides me with yellow-snow topping and fecal mcnuggets regularly.

Since she only eats Purina and IAMS cat food, I got her three different types and have a bowl of each out (which she munches away at).

She's about four years old.

But I still wonder if she's getting all the nourishment that she needs.

I'm jealous! No one sets out three different kinds/flavors of food for me!
I'd like to be a kitty
And live in your house this day
I'd purr, and sleep and
say, "Good fella -
I've trained you right. Ole' !"

feeding a good quality dry food only diet is 100% BALANCED. And its better for the teeth and gums. Canned food is the same thing with more water and sometimes weird additives added.

I never feed canned food to any pet I have unless they are sick.

So she's not only finicky (and spoiled), but she also knows what's good for her. Smart kitty. The foods that she'll eat are IAMS Indoor, Purina Indoor, and all the Purina One flavors. Smart kitty.

I may go get a spider plant to see if she can resist eating it, though. *grin*

Thanks.

PS. Flo-- I asked her and she says she's not sharing. Sorry.

those are good foods, I always feed IAMS and reccomend it often. You can go and buy some grass seed and grow her some grass if you want, its cheaper and more fun than a spider plant.
