Depends on which version you've read Tomsk. Think it averages at about 300 pages or a few more, but films stretch out because what you can say in a few paragraphs might take up longer from a visual point of view, plus added conversations and so on.

That's the spirit! And if she doesn't want to go - go yourself, and tell her how good it was.

That's a very good question. They did a fair job of the LOTR trilogy, though they left a few crucial parts out of the movies (like the Tom Bombadil portion). Perhaps they're going to concentrate on leaving no part out of this one, though even with that, it's hard to conceive a trilogy of movies.

I just hope they don't ruin it by including a bunch of unrelated fluff and padding. They've done that with other movies based on books and ruined them.

Unfortunately, I can see it happening, but then again, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

I think they made a great job of LOTR trilogy, but, as Glenn said, chunks were missed out. Then again, that happened with the Harry Potter films.

Yes, the films were good.

With the Potter books, you have to read them all, and also read between the lines. They were very cleverly written, and carefully interwoven to the conclusion.

Well with having children who delighted in them, I bought the whole lot, and sat and read them at my leisure. They were, very, very good, especially as JKR knows more than a fair bit about magic and stuff.
